As part of the renovation of the Tillsonburg Regional Airport, local artist and 17 Designs Art Director Stella Jurgen hand-painted a Harvard taking off from the runway with a second Harvard about to follow suit.  The artwork honouring the Harvard’s contribution to training pilots for action in WWII can be found in front of the Skyway Café. In fact, many airplanes that are part of the regional airport’s vibrant community can be found hand-painted by Stella throughout the lounge area and front entrance. To learn more about the Harvards and Canada’s role in preparing pilots for the WWII war effort, visit the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association Welcome Centre conveniently located at the airport.

Stella’s efforts to beautify the airport also helps the community as she contributes a portion of her earnings back to the Town of Tillsonburg. “It’s a WIN-WIN!” exclaims Stella, and rightly so. Everyone that visits the airport are thrilled with the result.
